On April 28, Rafiq Aslanov, Head of the State Supervision Service for Water Use and Protection, received a delegation led by Tamas Tarman, the Ambassador of Hungary to Azerbaijan.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of the Service, Tural Abbasov, the Ambassador's attaché Daniel Brenner, the management of Geogold Karpatia company, and other representatives.
During the meeting, key discussion topics included mapping of groundwater, collection of actual data on groundwater within this framework, and preparation of maps regarding the depth and mineralization level of aquifers. Additionally, participants were provided with detailed information on the management of surface and groundwater resources.
In his opening speech, Rafiq Aslanov emphasized the importance of studying and applying international experience, stating that broad and effective cooperation in this field is necessary to address modern challenges. He noted that the Service has identified several strategic priorities, including the re-evaluation and more accurate assessment of groundwater resources, automation of observation and monitoring systems, and preparation of hydrogeological maps that meet modern requirements. The Head of the Service stressed that these measures will not only improve the efficiency of the Service's operations but also make an important contribution to the country’s water security and ecological balance.
Ambassador Tamas Tarman also expressed his gratitude for the cordial reception and noted that Hungary is one of the leading countries in the world in water management. He further highlighted that Hungary's "Geogold Karpatia" company has implemented significant projects in countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Uzbekistan, Romania, and Tanzania. These include searches for drinking water in northern Tanzania and rural Romania, as well as water studies in areas with water scarcity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the company's presentation, proposals were made regarding the assessment and management of groundwater and surface water resources, increasing groundwater resources through the application of MAR technology, establishing a drought monitoring system, and enhancing training and skills.
It should be noted that Geogold Karpatia has been operating since 2002 and, since 2005, after structural changes, has specialized in hydrology, geology, and geophysics. The company closely cooperates with Hungary's Foreign Trade and Relations institution to implement international projects.
